Dessert Wednesday

ALERT: This post is not about Lincoln. I know it's been awhile.

Lately I have really been in the mood to cook. I have been experimenting quite a bit with new recipes and finding all sorts of awesome blogs and books to help me expand my culinary repertoire.

Because it is so easy to get in a rut in the kitchen, a few weeks ago I instituted "Dessert Wednesday." I think the name really says it all, but every Wednesday I make a new dessert. So far, I've been pretty successful in my endeavors. I've made a few types of cookies, some cheesecake bars and brownies, and today I made a "Dutch Baby." I had never heard of a Dutch Baby before, but I had all the ingredients, so I decided to give it a try and it came out pretty well. Here a few of my other creations:

(I'm also trying to figure out how to get good pictures of food. It's harder than you might think.) Overall, I think Dessert Wednesday has been pretty successful up to this point... I know Jonathan enjoys it, at least, and I'm sure I will post more about the desserts I make in the near future.

Oh, who am I kidding? Here's a picture of Lincoln. ;)

The Lincoln Show

Here's a cute little video of Lincoln "talking" I took a few days ago.

More Pictures of Lincoln

This is just an assortment of random pictures we've taken over the last few weeks. Lincoln is changing so much so quickly, so we're trying to capture all the different things he does!

My little boy has turned into a big wiggle worm. Jonathan got up one morning and said, "Did you put him in here like this?" I didn't, of course. Sometime during the night I guess he decided he needed to change positions.

I just think he looks cute in this picture. :)

Lincoln was pretty hungry when we took this picture. I guess he was a little confused about who his food comes from...

We have been working on putting Lincoln in his crib for naps for the last few days to help him get used to his own room before we stick him in there all night. This was the first time he successfully slept in his own bed. It only lasted about thirty minutes, but at least we beat the previous record of zero minutes...

Lincoln's Blessing

This weekend we had Lincoln's baby blessing. My little boy looked so cute in his little white outfit and tie!

He was such a good boy while Jonathan was giving him the blessing and Jonathan even says that Lincoln smiled when he said his name. :)

My Sweet Little Prince

This weekend we were lucky enough to have Kariah take some pictures of Lincoln. He was so cute all dressed up!

We had to improvise for backgrounds... These were taken on my new Moby Wrap on our bed. :)

Some of these pictures have been edited and others haven't, so that's why some look better than others.

Here's a picture of three generations of Jones men.
And here's a few pictures of our little family...

Pacifier? I Don't Need No Stinking Pacifier!

My baby is not big on pacifiers. We've tried a few different kinds and he does better with some than others, but they're just not his favorite things to suck on. He prefers thumbs. This would be sort of convenient if it was his own thumbs he wanted to suck on, but they're too small. He likes his Mama's and Daddy's thumbs.

If he starts to fuss one of us can just stick our thumb in his mouth and he calms right down. We can't really do anything with our hands when this happens, but I guess that is a small price to pay for a quiet baby.
