I ran my first 10K this weekend on the Washington and Old Dominion Trail in Vienna, VA.
Here I am, still smelling relatively good.
And here I am 6.2 miles later. They had an announcer calling out your number as you crossed the finish line. It made me feel pretty special.
The race didn’t start until 6:30pm and it was pretty warm out still, but the trail was pretty shaded so I can’t complain too much. The Friends of the W&OD is supposed to be the “greenest” race in the area so I had a recycled bib from another race and all the papers they gave me were double sided (but it was sort of a lot of paper to give out for a supposedly green race). I didn’t achieve my time goal, but I didn’t miss it by too wide a margin, so I’m still pleased. And I’m pleased it’s behind me.
